Valentine’s Day Outfit

oday, I am lazy. And I have no witty words or clever thoughts. So all you get is outfit inspiration. But, Valentine’s is coming up (it’s my least favorite holiday, I’m not even going to lie to you guys). And I know a lot of people actually really like this holiday—which is so beyond my understanding, but there you have it—and since a lot of people actually like this holiday and since a lot of people actually probably have plans for this holiday, a lot of people will be wanting to know what they should wear. So I’m here to help. Valentine’s Day Outfits.

(Personally, on Friday night, my Valentine’s Day outfit will probably be me in sweats. On the couch. And if we do go out, it’ll probably be to a movie with friends. In which case, I’ll stick to my trusty jeans and cardigan combo. It’s never steered me wrong before! And if we don’t go to a movie, we’ll probably just decorate cookies. Because if I have to celebrate this holiday, why not do it with mass amounts of sugar intake! That’s what I say. And I just want to also say that I’m not against love. I love love! I just don’t think we need a holiday to celebrate it. Let those of us who have love celebrate in our own way, every single day of the year. No need to rub it in the faces of people who don’t have love. Nobody wants to watch the Glen Coco’s of the world swoon and coddle over each other. It’s really just rude to the rest of people who aren’t Glen Coco. And also, I’m just not overly fond of pink…)

Anyway, even though I may not be all that thrilled to celebrate on Friday, I do love all of these outfits. I found some spectacular skirts on Asos and decided that if one needs to do a Valentine’s Day outfit, one should do it in a skirt! And all of these are perfect.

Outfit One

The shoes from this first outfit are numero uno on my shopping list once I’m off my shopping fast (a story for another time, if at all). I can’t not have them in my life! And that leather skirt, so in right now. Swooooon.

Outfit Two

Metallic is so huge right now, and I love the pops of pattern and color in this outfit. The bright pink earrings are perfect for Valentine’s Day. But mostly I’m dying over that skirt. It has POCKETS! Insert 6 heart-eyed emojis here.Valentine's Day Outfifit

Outfit Three

What a cute idea, to wear heart earrings and a “love” necklace on Valentine’s Day! I’m sure I’m the first person to have thought of this…

Outfit Four

Gosh, I am seriously dying over this skirt! And the sequin top. And the snakeskin shoes. Mostly, it’d just be great if I got up right now and walked into my closet and this outfit was there. Maybe if I had this, I’d actually want to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Maybe.

Outfit Five

I have a grey tee almost just like this and it’s one of my favorite shirts. So whenever I can incorporate it into an outfit, I’m a happy camper. Especially when I’m able to dress it up, like this outfit does. Super fancy and trendy lace skirt, with metallic heels, a sequin clutch, and a plain grey tee. Perfect.

Outfit Six

And of course, I had to include at least one cardigan. My go-to. My favorite. This outfit is perfectly girly. And even though it’s heavy on the pink, I’d still wear it. And you better believe I’d rock it.

6 Days of Last Minute Gift – SIGG Water Bottle

6 Days of Last Minute Gifts – SIGG Water Bottle

Last Minute Gifts - SIGG water bottle

Our next last minute gift comes from the hubs.  Ben love his SIGG water bottle.  Ben researches things to death before he buys anything so I can personally vouch for the research that goes into giving a SIGG as a gift.  Here are the key points according to him:

They are indestructible.

They can be taken anywhere.

They hold a lot of water.

They weigh almost nothing.

(And my favorite reason) They look cool.

SIGG comes in a variety of styles, colors and sizes.  So if you need a last minute gift for someone who is always trying to drink more water or has a New Years Resolution to give up soda (Erika) this might be the perfect gift for them.

And they’re available on Amazon Prime.  You’re welcome.

6 Days of Last Minute Gifts – Magna Doodle

6 Days of Last Minute Gifts – Magna Doodle

Last Minute Gifts - Magna Doodle

We’re going to the kid zone. If you need last minute gifts for the little people in your life, be it your kids, your sister’s kids, the neighbor kid that is always at your house (I’m looking at you TG) a Magna Doodle is great.  Even if the already have one, there is a good possibility they need a new one.  They get dropped, stood on, buried under toys, stampers go missing . . . you get the picture. This year we needed a new one AND an additional one.  There is lots of fighting over the Magna Doodle round these parts.  So Christmas morning my children will wake up to two.  A purple one and a blue one.  Different colors for different kids.

Here’s another argument for the Magna Doodle as a last minute gift: creativity friends.  It gives the kids an never ending canvas.  It also doesn’t use crayons which is great for your walls when you have a particularly “artistic” toddler in you home.  Sam loves to write us notes on his.  He walks around the house taking surveys.  He keeps track of the secret letters on Super Why.  He spends HOURS drawing ghosts from Luigi’s Mansion.  And the car? Oh, yeah.  No trying to reach around to the backseat for dropped pencils.

Yup.  We love the Magna Doodle.  Stick it on the kid portion of your list of last minute gifts.

Six Days of Last Minute Gift Ideas – Ear Buds

Six Days of Last Minute Gifts – Ear Buds

Last Minute Gifts - Earbuds Panasonic RP-TCM125 Ergo Fit

With smart phones, iPods, iPads, tablets, etc., nearly everyone on your list can use new ear buds. This makes them a great last minute gift.

With a million choices out there it is hard to know which set to buy.  I gave Ben the Skullcandy 50/50s last year and he loves them.  If you are feeling super generous, maybe some Beatz.  However, if you are just looking for a little something, the Panasonic RP-TCM125 Ergo Fit might just be the way to go.

Rumor on the interwebs is that these things are AMAZING for the price tag.  They are $5.21 on Amazon right now and they’re available with Prime shipping.  You gots to be kidding me.  And they come in a wide variety of colors.  If your gift recipient is anything like me, they are constantly losing ear buds. And let’s face it, one can never have to many pairs of hanging around.  Especially if you have a toddler who is OBSESSED with pulling off the plastic ear pieces.

So there ya go! Another easy and affordable gift idea for nearly every one on your list.

Six Days of Last Minute Gifts – Sweaty Bands

During all of my years in retail, there is one thing I’ve learned: people procrastinate.  I’m not kidding when I tell you that when I worked at Target, I would have people yelling at me that they need last minute gifts as I locked the door on Christmas Eve.  So, to keep you from becoming one of those people, we present:

Six Days of Last Minute Gifts

Over the next couple of days, I will be popping in with ideas to help you off the Christmas gift-giving ledge. What can I say?  I don’t want you yelling at all of my friends who still work at Target.

Last Minute Gifts - Sweaty Bands

To start off our last minute gift ideas, may I present Sweaty Bands. Lemme tell ya.  If you struggle with keeping your hair out of your eyes when you exercise, these babies are for you.  My friend Buddy (runner extraordinaire) introduced me to them this summer.  This is not your ordinary headband.  The back is a velvety material that keeps the headband in place.  Plus, the cuteness factor is out of this world.  They have skinny bands, fat bands, bling bands, custom bands . . . you name it, they’ve got it.  I never run without them anymore.  So fantastic. Plus, they are super cute to wear all of the time.  As I type this, my hair is in a low side braid, accessorized with a skinny black sparkle band.

So.  If you have a girl on your list that needs to keep the hair outta her eyes and you need a last minute gift idea, maybe pick one up.  I bought mine at Omega Sports in Raleigh and Nordstrom also carries them.  Or you can buy them from Sweaty Bands themselves.  I can guarantee she will love it!

Patriotic Printables

I am a huge fan of the 4th of July. Always have been. My first memory of the holiday was when I was 3 — we were living in Florida and my parents took us (my brother and me) to Stone Mountain in Georgia. I distinctly remember the faces in the mountain, which was just ginormous (I haven’t been back since, but I’m sure, much like the Disneyland castle, that the mountain has probably “shrunk” since I was last there). I remember going up in the cable cars with my dad to the top and getting “black stuff” on my hands, probably grease or something. I don’t remember the exact words that were said, but I remember having a very mature conversation with my dad on the cable car ride up. Mature to my 3-year-old mind, anyway. And I remember the laser show and the fireworks. Oh, those lasers and those fireworks! And Lee Greenwood. The very first time I ever heard Lee Greenwood — “….where at least I know I’m freeeee!”

The rest, as they say, is history! My love for the 4th of July has just grown since that day twenty-something years ago. And I daresay I’ve had some pretty cool Fourths. Fourth of July’s spent in our nation’s capital; something magical and nostalgic about the atmosphere. Fourth of July’s spent in my grandpa’s pool in Arizona, with the entire family. Fourth of July’s spent in the midst of Idaho farmland; farmland that reminds you just how hard we Americans have worked to get to where we are today. Fourth of July’s spent in Puerto Rico and South Africa — there’s nothing quite like celebrating the birth and independence of America overseas to make you appreciate just how truly great this country is! I really am proud to be an American, “lazy and stupid” as we may be.

So, in the interest of free stuff for MY second favorite holiday of all time, here are some Patriotic Printables (aptly named, dontcha think?) for you to take and use however your heart desires this 4th of July week. Enjoy them!

And don’t forget to enter our giveaway here! It closes tomorrow, and there’s still a pretty good chance you could win 🙂

As always, thanks for reading!
